Location: This hybrid position is open to applicants based in California, with preference for those residing in Northern CA.
Position Summary
Join our fast-growing EV charging startup where you’ll play a key role in managing on-site construction activities, ensuring work is performed safely, per design plans and code, and in alignment with EVCS’s quality standards. The Construction Supervisor will take ownership of site performance, supervising subcontractors, documenting daily progress and quality, and proactively escalating and resolving deviations or challenges. The Supervisor champions safety, quality, and creative problem-solving throughout the construction process.

Responsibilities
The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in electrical and civil construction, with firsthand experience working with or as a subcontractor, someone who understands the changing dynamics of field execution and communicates with clarity. You are the type who can tackle challenges with ingenuity, manage with empathy and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to drive results. You’ll bring a proactive accountable mindset and be able to apply lessons in the field to enhance team collaboration and drive continuous improvement.
- Work cross-functionally with operations, project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to safely deliver quality work within schedule
- Review and interpret drawings to ensure compliance with design, code, and project requirements
- Complete daily construction documentation including progress updates, safety JSAs, and quality reports with clarity and attention to detail
- Communicate any deviations from drawings or site issues to supervisors/engineers before taking corrective action
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills to address field emergencies and unexpected situations
- Maintain a clean and organized job site that reflects pride in work
- Show ownership by completing tasks fully and following up on outstanding items
- Deliver clear, professional written and verbal communication across teams
- Utilize software tools and platforms effectively for reporting and coordination
Qualifications
- Journeyman or Apprentice-level experience with a growth mindset and interest in pursuing licensure
- Demonstrated ability to challenge the status quo and learn through experimentation and reflection
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or equivalent industry experience
- 7+ years of relevant experience; 5+ years in technical fieldwork within EV, energy, or tech sectors
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and supervisory capabilities to manage scope, schedule, and budget
- Ability to understand broader business needs and foster collaborative partnerships with installation contractors and internal stakeholders
- Willingness to travel (~90% field presence) and adapt to dynamic site conditions
- Familiarity with Federal, State, and Local Utility & AHJ Code requirements
