Director, Funding & Site Development
Salary Range: $170,000-190,000
- Develop a comprehensive funding strategy, prioritizing opportunities based on alignment, probability of success, and potential impact.
- Manage identification of federal, state, and local government funding programs aligned with EV charging infrastructure goals.
- Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, external organizations, and key stakeholders.
- Lead preparation and submission of high-quality grant applications, ensuring compliance with all requirements.
- Lead the onboarding process for all new funding contracts, including a comprehensive review of obligations, deadlines, and reporting requirements.
- Ensure that all relevant departments are informed of key contract terms through structured communication and documentation processes.
- Develop and maintain standardized onboarding workflows to ensure consistency and thoroughness.
- Train internal teams on compliance obligations and operational impacts of each funding contract.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to gather necessary data and documentation for funding applications and reporting.
- Manage all aspects of the awarded grants, including compliance with terms, reporting, and coordination of audits or site visits.
- Drive proactive process development to promptly invoice grant agencies and collect on funding to ensure smooth business operations.
- Lead invoicing of grant agencies accurately and rapidly, ensuring alignment with company goals for the time from site commissioning to invoice submission.
- Partner with Finance to ensure accurate accounting and financial tracking for each funding source.
- Own the integrity and accuracy of funding and origination-related data in Salesforce, ensuring it reflects current obligations, deadlines, and statuses.
- Implement and maintain processes to keep Salesforce data up-to-date and aligned with funding program requirements.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate data from funding contracts into broader projects and financial systems.
- Coordinate with third-party originators and internal teams to vet and analyze opportunities, ensuring alignment with company strategy.
- Manage relationships with internal and third party site acquisition personnel, property owners, landlords, and stakeholders
- Oversee contract negotiations with site hosts
- Oversee due diligence on sites, evaluating traffic patterns, proximity to amenities, electrical infrastructure, and feasibility.
- Own and facilitate smooth and timely processing of sites through EVCS’s stage-gate process
- Align site acquisition efforts with federal, state, and local government funding.
- Manage gating processes for selection of high-value EV charging sites, ensuring alignment with strategic and financial objectives.
- Collaborate with construction supervisors and other team members to get input and buy-in on site feasibility.
- Manage accurate entry of all opportunities into internal systems, capturing key data to support seamless execution.
- Oversee the handoff of approved opportunities to project managers, ensuring smooth transitions and clear expectations.
- Own portfolio analysis (in collaboration with FP&A) including modeling and scenario analysis to evaluate project viability, profitability, and risk.
- Provide data-driven recommendations for prioritizing sites and refining acquisition strategies.
- Process Improvement & Reporting:
- Develop and implement strategies to streamline the origination and acquisition process, driving efficiency and effectiveness.
- Own and continually refine the site scoring process and methodology
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular updates to senior management on progress, challenges, and opportunities.
- Propose and execute improvements to ensure seamless coordination between acquisition, funding, and project execution teams.

- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred
- 7+ years of experience in government funding or infrastructure project development, ideally in energy or transportation
- Proven success securing and managing grants, rebates, and public funding for infrastructure projects
- Deep knowledge of funding programs, regulatory compliance, and reporting requirements
- Skilled in onboarding and operationalizing new funding contracts in fast-paced environments
- Experience managing compliance and reporting for government contracts
- Strong financial acumen, including basic modeling and understanding of IRR and project viability
- Proven contract negotiation skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Experienced with Salesforce or similar CRM systems, with emphasis on data quality and process integration
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple funding programs simultaneously
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to risk assessment, compliance, and funding optimization
Location: This is a remote role. The Company is based in Southern California (Arcadia, Los Angeles, CA). The role requires meeting in person on an as-needed basis.

Requirements:
